Sweets for the sweeties!

Made it through Valentine’s Day!! Not because of any dating issues- I’m super happily married!! Or where to go for dinner, we’ve never been big on fighting for a table.

We love it have a special dinner with the family. So it was everybody’s favorites,

The best of the night is always dessert!

And boy did I go frugal!! Here’s the breakdown:

Chocolate covered strawberries- had about half a bag of Kisses left over from the holidays and half a bag of semi-sweet morsels. In they went to the double boiler with a smidge of oil.

Guess what? The strawberries were only $2.68 at Walmart!

But what else? How about some molten lava cakes that are heart shaped?

So in goes a little devils food cake mix and Godiva truffle chocolates. And ice cream that was only $2.99 @ Wegmans!!

All in all yummy desserts that cost me under $8!!

Tuesday free day fun day

What a day! Since I had joined to receive the e-newsletters from L’Occitane, not only do I get notices of sales… but a free gift without having to make a purchase. To make it even sweeter I was able to gift it to 2 of my friends. What I didn’t know is that by bringing in the email to redeem for my gift, there was an additional $10 of a $35 purchase!

On the mass world of apps, I have previously downloaded the McDonald’s app. Why you say when there’s so much talk of how “healthy” it might not be. It’s my favorite junk food indulgence!! With that said, every so often there’s a free dessert with purchase or if the College State team wins there’s a free order of fries. This time if 50 points were scored at the Super Bowl it was a free Grand Mac! There’s lunch!!

Now about the movie…. free passes to the advance screening of the Lego Batman movie. How you ask?? Yup, you guessed it, I subscribed to another e-newsletter group.

This time to the Warner Brothers Studios program. There is a trick to it though, because I don’t always get passes. Once you get the email you have to be quick and claim your passes!! But so worth it when you can bring your family.

Having fun while learning

The best way to learn is when you’re having fun! Especially when you’re a kid!

What’s a great life skill? Knowing how to cook- you gotta eat, right?

Well how about learning how to cook at a very famous restaurant known for its tummy-fillling food and warmth?

Maggiano’s offers Kids Cooking Classes throughout the year.

This Super Bowl Sunday the kids get the spotlight. And the stage is set

Dessert first? Only because it has another process, the freezer! Love Chocolate Zuccotto bites drizzled with white chocolate and milk chocolate

On to the salad drizzle!!

Mmmm….. lasagna

Last lesson- cookie decorating

Now it wouldn’t be complete without having some food! Included is a lunch for the kids- and parents too!
Group photo for the scrapbook! Thank you Chef Roni!!

So, sign up for the Maggiano’s newsletter for scheduled events like this! http://www.maggianos.com

P.S. They also have events for adults!!

Stumbled on a bargain!

What a way to brighten a day! I originally went to do some everyday errands, pay a bill, etc….. stopped at our nearby Victoria Secret store. Seems they’re having a sale on sleep and lounge wear, a 50% off marked price. I wanted to resist!

Then I found the neatest stuff in my size!

Two sleep shirts, gym pants and a full zipped hoodie. At full price I would have paid $144. But, from the points I collected as an Angel VIP card holder I had $30 in gift cards that I could use toward my purchase.

After applying the 50% off at the register, then using the gift cards….. I only paid $8.36 (with tax) for all the above!!

Love it when a sale and gift card come together!!

Velcro to the rescue

My daughter wanted to redecorate her room. So we went out and she picked her curtains and a cute balance to match. We didn’t get the curtain rod, don’t ask.

Well as it happened, life happens and we – ok I- would forget to get the curtain rod. By happen chance I found a great rod that matched the beads on the balance she chose. In the cart it went.

As my husband installed the rod and the curtain; he asked, “where does this go?”. Uh-oh, I didn’t get a balance rod….and I really didn’t want to add more holes in the wall.

But, I did have sticky back Velcro,

So I measured out the length I needed and carefully and placed it on the back of the valance and front of the curtain.

I did put the matching side of the Velcro on the curtain with it still on the rod. Only because I wanted to make sure that I placed it correctly so that it looked ok.

And now the finished product! It took maybe 15 minutes tops! It was cheaper than the rod and it spared the wall!!
